SchoolBOX is a registered Canadian charity with the simple mission of ‘making education possible’ for all kids. Our organization was founded in 2006 with the gift of a notebook and pencil to two girls in Nicaragua which enabled them to attend school that year. We quickly evolved into building libraries and classrooms and supporting kids each year.
SchoolBOX now works with First Nations, Métis and Inuit leaders to ‘make education possible’ for kids in Indigenous communities across Canada, with a focus on Treaty 3 in Northern Ontario. We come alongside local youth, leaders and Chief & Council to implement educational goals of each community. We help with funding lunch programs, libraries and learning centres which can include a new library, computers and resource spaces, empowering kids from kindergarten to grade 12 in their educational journeys.
We are searching for a leader on a mission…
We are looking for a mission-focused, dynamic, people-oriented, strategic and experienced individual to oversee our SchoolBOX operations and help build systems for sustainable growth. You are a key team member, and will be our leader responsible for learning our history and developing relationships with our grassroots global network, implementing current systems and procedures to build on for future sustainable growth.
We expect you to be of exemplary character, an experienced and efficient leader with commitment to education. We are looking for someone with shared values. These include the love of children, belief that education is the key for all children to reach their potential, strength of community, importance of accountability for every dollar, courage to take managed risks and reach those who need us most, and all with a mindset for sustainability. You possess excellent English story-telling capacity and a humble heart to champion and empower our team.
Our greatest asset in this industry is our people; our network of supporters, volunteers and staff who give above and beyond every day to help us achieve our mission. Your job is to love them, to encourage them and to keep them healthy in order to sustainably reach our goal of seeing every child succeed.
