Manager, Indigenous Strategic Relations

Based in one of the four (4) campus locations, the Manager, Indigenous Strategic Relations reports directly to the Director, Indigenous Strategy to ensure the well-being and management of the Indigenous strategy division. This position will be responsible to establish, implement, develop, and control best practices for the Indigenous staff and students through development of processes and policies that align with the strategic direction of the division and for continued development and implementation of the Indigenous Student Success Strategy. In addition, the Manager is responsible for people management, human resource matters, strategic planning, implementation control of departmental operational and capital plans and budgets for the Indigenous Student centers.

The Manager, Indigenous Strategic Relations is responsible for the total employee life cycle for their 13 full time direct reports across the province: Program heads, Student Success Support Coaches, Community Liaison, Indigenous Student Advisors, and Indigenous Student Centre Coordinator

Daily the Manager of Indigenous Strategic Relations interacts with Deans, Associate Deans, Directors, Academic Chairs, Program Heads, Faculty, and other stakeholders internally and externally to ensure Indigenous strategic needs/objectives translate into valuable outcomes for the institution.

Travel is required between all SaskPolytech locations for managerial responsibilities, as well as travel provincially, nationally, and occasionally internationally to represent Indigenous strategy and Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

 

Qualifications:

A relevant undergraduate degree, such as business or education, with five years recent/relevant work experience in leadership and developing support for Indigenous students and knowledge of Indigenous history and issues and best practices is required.

 

Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Indigenous student recruitment, transition and retention issues in a post-secondary environment including the relationship of these to the social cultural issues in Saskatchewan.

 

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to advise on appropriate strategies and programs to support Indigenous student success. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience may be considered.
